Wonder What Politics As Usual Sounds Like?

NEW ORLEANS – In a story on the political blog “BayouBuzz” by reporter Stephen Sabludowsky, regarding alleged ethics violations by John “King” Georges and Sen. Edwin Murray, voters discovered exactly what “Politics As Usual” actually sounds like:

1.     Sen. Edwin Murray:  “No comment.”

2.    John “King” Georges: Answering a question about a possible ethics violation by inadvertently admitting to another ethics violation.

From John “King” Georges’ email, excerpted in the BayouBuzz article:
“We have a CPA firm to assure reporting requirements are met. I have confidence that they know the rules bettor.  If something it not on this report then you must assume it will be on the next report due to ‘cut-offs’.”

“Are you kidding me?” said an incredulous Perry, “If you’ve got a CPA firm preparing your campaign finance reports then someone did work on behalf of the campaign and should’ve gotten paid.  His report clearly does not show this expenditure.”

“If the voters wanted to know what politics as usual looked like they could’ve just taken a look at the campaign finance reports filed by these two candidates.  But now we actually know what “Politics as Usual” sounds like,” said Perry.  “A “no comment” in response to a direct question by a reporter from one candidate and an inadvertent admission of yet another ethics violation by the other candidate.”

“The people of New Orleans have had enough of the status quo. We just can’t afford another four years like the last four,” said Perry.  “We deserve leaders who hold themselves to higher standards. We don’t need another mayor who’s in it for self-interest or special interests. It’s time to put progress ahead of politics and make a real change.”

James Perry has the executive experience as a non-profit CEO to navigate city hall and the courage to fix what needs to be fixed.
